We train at Wright Robinson College once a week, sharing the pool with Bambers Inclusive Swim School.
Venue:
Wright Robinson College,
Abbey Hey Ln,
Gorton,
Manchester
M18 8RL
Time: 6.30-8.00 pm Wednesdays (term time only)
What equipment is needed?
· Suitable clothing for swimming – we recommend a swimsuit, jammers, or modest swimwear.
· Swim hat
· Goggles
· Water bottle
· Towel or changing robe
To ease pressure on the accessible changing room, we also recommend that swimmers arrive pool ready (wearing trunks or swimsuit under clothes) and use a changing robe after the session. We know this isn’t suitable for all swimmers, but if this works for you, it could mean less time waiting to use the changing room.
Changing robes can be bought in a number of places online and in shops. Ask our Head Coach about recommendations.
We will provide some equipment for training such as kickboards, but we can’t guarantee that this will be available or in your size. You may prefer to have your own of the following items:
· Kickboard
· Pull buoy
· Fins (swimming not diving)
· Hand paddles
· Net bag to carry the equipment
Extra clothing or equipment
Some swimmers need to keep water away from hearing aids or implants, or prefer to cover their ears for sensory reasons. You are welcome to wear ear covers which are designed for use in the pool, should you wish to do so.
What will a training session involve?
A training session will be tailored to your specific needs and goals as much as possible.
You will be swimming alongside other swimmers of a similar ability, allowing the appropriate amount of space for everyone’s needs. Some of our swimmers want to improve their technique, others want to keep fit, and some want to prepare for galas and other competitive events. We have the expertise and experience to support you as you work towards your goals. For everyone, we believe in making training a social and fun experience, where we take pride in swimmers’ achievements at every level.
If you haven’t been in a club before, we will teach you about club swimming etiquette, and build your confidence. You will learn the terminology used in training sessions and we will ensure that this is communicated to you clearly and respectfully. All of this may help if you’re interested in joining another club (it’s quite common for swimmers to be in more than one club in order to access suitable training times).

Communication
Good communication is very important to the club. No question is ever too big or too small.
Please tell the Head Coach about your needs as a swimmer, including:
· Your disability(ies) if you have any
· What you might want some help with e.g. getting in and out of the water, understanding instructions etc.
· Any concerns or worries you have
· If anything has changed since you last told us about yourself
